The motion of the freely falling chain tip. Force measurements.

Abstract : A chain is firmly attached at one end while the other falls freely in the gravitational field. We report and discuss careful time-resolved measurements of the horizontal and vertical components of the force applied by the chain to the mount. Our results interestingly complement previous laboratory measurements and numerical simulations of the free-end dynamics.
